Rehome Your Pet

Life Happens. We Get It.

Relinquishing your pet can be one of the most difficult decisions you’ll make. To help make the process easier, we have provided the resources below.

Rehome Your Pet On Your Own

Rehome Your Pet On Your Own – Adopt-a-Pet.com, the largest non-profit pet adoption website, with support from the Petco Love Foundation, have created a simple, reliable, free program to help you place your pet from your loving home directly to another. Click here to be directed to Adopt-a-Pet.com’s rehome webpage. This application will help you create a profile, process applications, meet adopters and finalize adoptions. The site is trusted, safe and secure. By utilizing this site directly, you have control over where your pet is placed.

You can also use a new website service called Home to Home to list your pet and adopt directly to another home. The link to use this free service is here: https://home-home.org/rehome/

If you live within our service area (zip codes 62201, 62203, 62204, 62205, 62206 and 62207), we can help you take photos and fill out the application. For assistance, call (618) 687-8007, ext. 6.

Rehome Your Pet Through Gateway Pet Guardians

To have your pet considered for our rehoming adoption program, please complete the corresponding form below.

At this time, we only intake dogs/puppies and cats/kittens from the East Side Pet District – East Saint Louis, Cahokia Heights, Washington Park and Fairmont City. The only exception outside our service area is if the pet was adopted from us.

Once submitted, we will contact you about next steps, which will include a meeting with our intake team and your pet, reviewing at medical records and evaluating behavior.

Please allow 48 – 72 hours for our team to review and respond to your application while we continue our day-to-day lifesaving efforts. Depending on inquiry volume, there may be some delay in our response. Each day we receive numerous inquiries for pets that need to be rehomed. Some email-filters send our responses to SPAM folders, so please check your inbox carefully.

If you would like to speak with a Pet Support Specialist about resources available to keep your pet, call (618) 687-8007 ext. 6.
