Emergency Veterinary Care
Sudden emergency veterinary expenses in times of crisis can put many families in a tough financial situation. The resources below are available to support families in this time of need.
- Waggle is a fundraising platform dedicated to helping sick and injured pets regain good health through crowdfunding. If your pet is in need of emergency veterinary care, use Waggle to tell your story and share across your social media platforms to raise funds to cover your veterinary expenses.
- RedRover has urgent relief grants that provide financial assistance, resources and emotional support to pet guardians struggling with economic hardship when pets are in life-threatening situations.
- The Pet Fund provides financial assistance to owners of domestic animals in the United States who need non-basic, non-urgent veterinary care.
- Care Credit offers a credit card allowing you to finance the care for your pets through convenient monthly payments that fit your budget.
For residents in the Metro East St. Louis area, an additional resource is available through Gateway Pet Guardians called the East Side Pet Crisis Fund. This fund is available to residents in zip codes 62201, 62203, 62204, 62205, 62206, and 62207 only.
Financial assistance and treatment options are determined in conjunction with the family, veterinarian and Community Director. This is always on a case by case basis and while funds are available.
To qualify, recipients will need to provide proof of need (proof of government assistance, fixed income, etc). We ask that the family pays back a portion of the total cost if they can and/or create an online fundraiser to offset the expenses.
