Starting noon on Sat. March 25, we are officially kicking off our Shelter Slumber Pawty, but our pre-pawty is on like Donkey Kong! This collaborative fundraising event encourages animal advocates to spend 24 hours at our Pet Resource Center – eating, sleeping and pawtying with shelter pets while raising money and awareness for participating shelters like Gateway Pets (GPG). Thanks to our oh-so generous sponsors Metro East Industries, Carol House Furniture and an anonymous donor, your gift will be DOUBLED starting today – for every $1 donated, GPG receives $2!

How the Pawty Started! GPG hosted the first-ever Shelter Slumber Pawty in 2017. In an effort to raise awareness and money for shelter animals, GPG asked staff and volunteers to spend 24 hours in kennels living side-by-side with shelter dogs while asking for donations. The entire event was live-streamed on social media, giving the public a glimpse into the lives of shelter animals. By the time the 24-hour was up, the team had raised over $30,000! In 2018, another area organization, Belleville Area Humane Society, joined and together, we raised over $50,000! This event exploded in 2019 when 17 organizations came together raise much-needed funds for community animals in need. Since 2017, the Shelter Slumber Pawty has raised over $600,000!
