Adoptable Dog in St. Louis: Meet Abbey!

This week we’d like you all to meet Abbey. She was a dog who was on our feeding route in East St. Louis. Last month we were able to finally rescue her and her companion, Midnight. Abbey is a black Labrador Retriever and weighs about fifty pounds. She is spayed and up-to-date with shots. She is currently with a foster family as she waits to find her special forever family.

This sweet girl has a smile that lights up any room! Abbey is great with people, especially with kids. She just loves to play with them! She gets along well with other dogs, but it may take her a little time to warm up to them initially. She also gets along with cats.

Abbey is smart and a quick learner. She is all already potty-trained and walks well on a leash. She would be a great companion for walks. She is working on learning to be comfortable with the crate. One thing that Abbey loves more than anything is peanut butter in her Kong toy. Perhaps that can be her bribe!

This girl has been through a lot, including a dislocated hip. However, she has not let that faze her. She is so filled with love. Are you ready to let her love you to pieces? If yes, then please check out our adoption process and fill out an application here: Pet Adoption Policies & Application. You may also email us at adopt@gatewaypets.com for more information. We are always looking for foster parents as well. Each time a shelter dog goes to a home, GPG can make room for another rescue dog. Please check out our foster page for more information here: Foster A Pet.
