The first day of spring brought us some beautiful weather over the weekend and Mama Heart wants out of the shelter so she can play! This sweet girl has a very special spot in our hearts. As you may have guessed from her name, she is a mama dog. She and her seven babies were rescued during Valentine’s Day weekend as part of a humane rescue. She has since been spayed and is up-to-date on her shots. Mama Heart is heartworm positive and it would really help her recovery process if she could get some good rest away from the shelter. She promises to be this cute ALL the time!
Mama Heart would love to find her furever family but would be happy in a foster home as well. She is just a little over a year and half old. She is not a very big dog and barely weighs forty pounds. We think that she may be a Basenji Mix. This is arguably the most ancient dog breed and is known to be the dogs of the Pharaohs. She may also have some Shepherd and Labrador in her as well.
Being heartworm positive does not damper this girl’s spirit! She is very playful and such a silly goof. Mama Heart is a high-energy dog and she just loves to spin and bounce around. She hasn’t had a chance to meet many of the dogs at the shelter since we have tried to keep her activity level down. She would prefer to be the only four-legged child in her home.
Mama Heart really loves people and gets along with everyone. She is affectionate and loves to jump on an open lap. She is an expressive dog and has a lot to say. She is a relatively easy dog considering that she is already house-trained. Mama Heart is a pretty smart dog and loves puzzles.
