Foster Spotlight: It’s Your Time to Shine, Kris Sadler! This week we are featuring Kris Sadler for Foster Spotlight! She has volunteered and worked for numerous shelters in the past. She actually learned about GPG while working at Belleville Area Humane Society. PJ was her biggest inspiration. Watching the many videos of PJ’s feedings and rescues motivated Kris and she deeply admired her passion. She wanted to be involved with a rescue that was just as passionate as she was and found her home at GPG.

Although Kris has been with GPG for less than a year, she has fostered five dogs and temporarily fostered many more! While she loves puppies, she’d rather be the fun “Aunt”. She enjoys adults because they already have a personality and it is so fun to watch them transform from a stray into a family pet.

Kris’s first foster, Tiny, made a huge impression on her heart. Tiny was very shy and cowered in the corner and scratched at the front door when she first brought him home. He was only with her a short time before he started coming out of his shell. He was so sweet and easy to house-train. It didn’t take long for him to settle into her home, family, and heart. Kris reminds new foster parents to know what you’re getting into and don’t overwhelm yourself. It takes a lot of time and patience but it is SO worth it in the end!

Kris works for a contractor in Fairview Heights doing technical support. When she’s not working she loves to spend time with her human and animal family. She has two boys, Brian who is nine and Jo’ Ziah who is two. As far as pets go, she has a Pharaoh Hound mix named Willow Faye, two cats named Lord Voldemort II and Thundercat Presley, and a turtle named Oreo. They were all adopted this year! Kris suffers from PTSD and anxiety, so having these animals in her home is therapeutic. She hopes to go to school and eventually train therapy dogs and rehabilitate shelter dogs.

Kris is heavily involved with GPG from working at the shelter to helping out at events. We are greatly appreciative for all that you do! Thank you!!
