Our next foster spotlight goes to none other than Marie Grohmann! Marie got started with GPG when she adopted her first GPG dog, Morticia. We have our very own GPG love story because that’s how she met her significant other! Tommy was Morticia’s foster dad. They have continued to foster ever since they got together.
In the seven months that they have been fostering, they have had eight permanent fosters and three temporary ones. They have four personal dogs, so they find that puppies work best to compliment all the different personalities in their home. And of course, who doesn’t love all that puppy breath and those sweet little puppy butts!
Their most memorable story is their foster failure, Trek. He was rescued during the time we were renovating our shelter. He is a Pit/Great Dane mix and is as sweet and loving as they come. When it came time to show him off to the real world and find him a forever home, they realized he had been in it the whole time! They were already so in love with him!
Marie and Tommy know a thing or two when it comes to fostering. Their best advice is simple. Be patient. Some fosters may be harder than others, but the reward of saving a life is always worth it!
Being an animal lover is not something that is new to Marie but has always been a part of her life. In their home, you will not only find their four personal dogs, but also a revolving door of fosters, a rabbit, a cat, and a turtle. When Marie is not serving her GPG family, she is busy protecting our country by serving in the Air Force.
GPG is so glad that this love story between a boy and a girl turned into a love story for GPG! We are thankful everyday that both Marie and Tommy are a part of our incredible team. Thanks for all that you do!!
