Say hello to Shelby, a medium-sized, 1 year old Pit Bull Terrier/Terrier mix! Sweet-natured, fun-loving, and friend to animals and humans alike, she’s one of the cutest and sweetest babies you’ll ever meet. She’s the kind of girl who just loves affection and loves giving it. Whether it’s giving kisses, nibbles, or cuddling on the couch, she’s nothing if not gentle and compassionate and the perfect mix of playful and laid back.
Along with friendly, she’s also extremely goofy and keeps her current foster in stitches on a daily basis. Known for her extravagant positions, she can often be found with her back legs stretched out on the sofa and her front paws on the floor. She slowly slides off onto the floor in a sort of half laying down/half standing pose in what can only be described as a sort of doggy yoga position – “downward dog” so to speak. It’s safe to say that Shelby is a girl with spunk. She’s letting her little light shine and enjoys life to the fullest. When she’s not making her foster family laugh, she can also be found laying frog-legged on the floor chewing on a bone or with a toy in her mouth playing a game of chase in the backyard with the other dogs in her foster family’s house. She hasn’t quite mastered the concept of ‘fetch’ yet, but is working on it as well as other commands. For now, she’s fluent in ‘sit’, ‘crate’, ‘paw’, and ‘place’. Her leash manners are also a work in progress, but are coming along very nicely.
Shelby is house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, up to date with shots, and good with other dogs as well as humans young and old. Her foster family says she does great with the other canine companions in the house and fits in extremely well. She enjoys wrestling with, as well as playing chase and tug of war with, the other dogs of the house. When not watched she can be mischievous, but with the perfect blend of affection and daily physical activity she will be fine. Shelby is fond of her crate. At meal time she will automatically go to her crate to dine and likes to sleep quietly in her crate at night. She loves her crate so much she often likes to sleep in and can be found lounging in there long past the snooze button.
