Earlier this week, we received a call from a frantic pet owner concerned about his dog. She went into labor 24 hours earlier, and still hadn’t given birth to her puppies yet. They had taken the dog, Zena, to the vet for an examination and received a quote for $1,200 for an emergency cesarean surgery to save her life. The family could not afford this surgery. With nowhere else to turn, they called Gateway Pet Guardians.
Thanks to our East Side Pet Crisis Fund, we were able to help. We partnered with Hillside Animal Hospital, who performed the surgery and successfully delivered six tiny puppies. Zena and her puppies went home that night to their loving family. We visited them the next day, and everyone was thriving. Zena was happy to love on her owner, and we were thrilled to see such a happy ending!
Our East Side Pet Crisis Fund helps keep families whole. Many of the residents we aid with this fund have nowhere else to turn. But we can only help when funds are available. With your help, we can make a difference by keeping pets with their loving owners and out of area shelters. Donate today!
