Gateway Pet Guardians scored a hole-in-one at the annual Ron Ortyl Memorial Golf Tournament. This year the tournament raised over $50,000 to benefit stray animals in East St. Louis. The Ortyl family hosted the event September 29 at Norwood Hills Country Club in Jennings, MO. 56 teams competed for the $5000 prize, a large increase from the 39 teams in 2013.
The winners of the cash prize were Brent Bartley for the east course and Chris Krull for the west course. The prizes for the raffle included a barrel of beer and an iPhone6.
The Ortyl family holds the annual tournament to honor Ron Ortyl, the owner of Metro East Industries. A large animal welfare supporter, Ortyl passed away in 2007 and the family continues his good work by supporting animal organizations like Gateway Pet Guardians.
