Last week, we received a very special announcement from our friends at Banfield Foundation. They awarded a $10,000 grant to Gateway Pet Guardians to be used towards our East Side Pet Crisis Fund! This fund was created in 2014 to assist families in the Metro East with emergency veterinary care. Through our work with the community, we encountered many situations where families needed financial help to care for their animals. Thanks to this fund, we are able to serve as a resource to residents with nowhere else to turn. Assistance has included examinations, obstructions, parvo treatment, emergency surgeries, and humane euthanasia.

Banfield Foundation believes that all pets deserve access to veterinary care. In support of this belief, the foundation funds programs that enable veterinary care, elevate the power of the human-animal bond, provide disaster relief for pets, and advance the science of veterinary medicine through fostering innovation and education. In 2017, the foundation awarded Gateway Pet Guardians a $5,000 grant, which was used to help in over 20 emergency situations. This year, they increased their grant funding to $10,000, enabling us to help even MORE pets in 2018!
