The next person in line for the Foster Spotlight is Amelia Fisher! Amelia recently moved to St. Louis from North Carolina. She was involved in fostering at her previous location, so she wanted to get back into it when she moved here. When she found GPG, she loved how thorough and organized our process was and applied to be a part of the organization. She’s been fostering for less than a year but has already taken in five fosters, two of which were temp fosters. Amelia loves fostering puppies, because who can deny how cute they are? She also loves to foster special cases like feral puppies because it is so wonderful to watch their progression.
Amelia’s most memorable fostering experience so far has been with a sweet little feral German Shepherd named Riley. Although Riley was very shy, she quickly bonded with Amelia’s resident dog, Roscoe. The first night she was home, she assumed Riley would sleep in her crate; however, when bedtime came along, she hopped right into Amelia’s bed with Roscoe.
Amelia tells new foster parents not to sweat the small stuff. Yes, your foster might chew up something you wish they hadn’t, have a potty accident, keep you up all night… but in the end it is always worth it!
Amelia is a graduate student at St. Louis University studying sustainability. She loves staying active by hiking, biking, and swimming with her three-year-old Lab rescue, Roscoe. We can’t express how happy we are to have Amelia as a part of the GPG family and want to say thanks for all the lives she is helping save. Welcome to GPG and thanks for all you do!
