You’ve seen the Facebook profile pics with the Give STL logo, you’ve seen the giant billboards around town AND you’ve probably either seen news coverage or heard a local radio personality chatting up the biggest fundraising day in St. Louis! Soooooo, what is it??

(Fair warning, this post is FILLED with important information so make sure to read through!)

Well, for GPG it’s the most fun and frankly most distracting day we have all year! For 24 hours, St. Louisans are encouraged to support their local charities. Last year, we raised over $15,000 in those 24 hours! (It’s also a day that I usually cry multiple times because I am overwhelmed by people’s generosity and support for our small but mighty animal rescue.) First, this event is hosted by the Greater St. Louis Community Foundation. They have MANY partners and sponsors that make this day of giving fun for everyone involved. Throughout the day, organizations like GPG compete for monetary prizes (which I will discuss further in a bit) and a cut of “lift dollars” (also to be explained further later). Supporters like yourself are encouraged to donate as little or as much as you can on Give STL Day. All donations made through our specific link HERE, come back to Gateway Pet Guardians and support our mission!

To spice things up a tad (and to make the day more distracting), we have added some fun features to the day. We invite all of you to join us in whatever capacity you can! We will have Watch Paw-ties throughout the day all around St. Louis and the metro East. We are SO excited to team up with Syberg’s and Helen Fitzgerald’s for Give STL Day for these Paw-ties on May 11th! We will be watching the donation boards and pushing GPG on social media to help gain more donations. These Paw-ties are also during key times where we will be competing for the $1000 prizes. We will be at ALL locations for lunch from 11:30am-2:30pm and Happy Hour from 4:30pm-7:30pm. Come join us and meet some adoptable dogs!  Volunteers will have donation stations for you to make a donation to our Give STL Day event. Plus, all locations are donating 10% of their food sales that day.  You will find us throughout the day on our Facebook page doing live feeds from each location through out the day.  So… here’s the lineup.

8:45am-11am: Shelter Pawty! We will be at the shelter with music, coffee, donuts and a donation station.

11:30am-2:30pm: Lunch Watch Paw-ty at all Syberg’s and Helen Fitzgerald’s (Addresses at the bottom of the post)

4:30pm-7:30pm: Evening Watch Paw-ty and Happy Hour at all Syberg’s and Helen Fitzgerald’s.

So, now about the competitions… Each organization has the opportunity to win one $1000 prize throughout the day. Gateway Pet Guardians is competing in the “Small Non-Profit” category. If you’d like to be strategic with your donation(s), here are the times we will be competing:

MOST DOLLARS RAISED (Pretty self-explanatory – we are competing against EVERYONE in our category to raise the most dollars during “Power Hours”.)

1am-1:59am

5pm-5:59pm

MOST UNIQUE DONORS (This is where you help us rally your friends, family, neighbors and maybe even strangers on the street to make donations! Each individual that makes a donation during these “Power Hours”counts as a unique donor.)

5am-5:59am

1pm-1:59pm

9pm-9:59pm

20 in 20 LIFT DOLLARS (This one is a bit more confusing… During each one of these 20 minute increments, The Greater St. Louis Foundation has found a donor to give $20,000 to help “lift” all donations. How does this work? All donations (up to $500) made during these times will receive a portion of the $20,000 donation. For example, if $40,000 is donated during that time, every dollar donated is really $1.50. This $20,000 donation is spread across each and EVERY donation made – this is not just specific to GPG. Again, I know this can be confusing. If you have follow-up questions, email me jamie@gatewaypets.com!)

6:20am-6:40am

9:20am-9:40am

12:20pm-12:40pm

3:20pm-3:40pm

6:20pm-6:40pm

11pm-11:20pm

WAIT THERE’S MORE!!!! This is the ultimate way to maximize your donation(s)! We have a matching donor! Civil Engineering Design Consultants (CEDC) has agreed to match $3500 of your donated dollars! That means for every dollar you donate, they will match it dollar for dollar (up to $3500).

WHEW! I think that’s everything! There are sooooo many ways for you to get involved with Give STL Day this year! We hope to see you at one of our many Watch Paw-ties. Don’t hesitate to email me (jen@gatewaypets.com) if you have questions and I will see you on May 11th!
