We adopted Beni in December of 2016 when she was about 4 months old. We had been looking to adopt a dog or puppy from a rescue and when we saw a picture on Gateway’s website we fell in love. Beni’s story was featured on Gateway’s website in the end of November of 2016. She was found as just a sickly puppy by an Animal Control Officer who was tasked with finding a rescue to take her within 6 hours or euthanizing a 5 week old puppy found in a box that morning. She was found infested with maggots and worms and weighed only 3 pounds. Fast forward about 9 months and she is now tipping the scale at about 50 pounds and is the best puppy EVER. We are so happy that this adorable girl made her way into our lives and could not imagine our lives any other way. She spends her time playing in her fenced year, going to the dog park with her doggie brother Bear, sleeping with her humans and is looking forward to passing her Canine Good Citizen test in the next month or so. We can not thank Gateway and her foster mommy Erin enough for saving this precious/perfect girl.
