My husband and I decided one Saturday afternoon to stop by a multi-rescue adoption event in Belleville. We had both mentioned that it might be fun to get another dog as a playmate for our 9 year old GSD, but really weren’t 100% certain. At the event, I wandered around looking at some of the adoptable dogs, while my husband and two daughters made a beeline for the Gateway Pet Guardians tent. Literally, within minutes they had surrounded a cute black and tan pup, who was all legs and a wagging tail. My husband declared “we’re adopting her”, as my girls squealed and kissed “Brody”. I’m sure this was fate!! Brody is a sweet, playful girl and has been a wonderful addition to our family. Our 9 year old GSD Mack has gone from a couch potato to a playful pup again, all thanks to Brody. They truly are best friends. I’ve always thought that rescues seem to know they’ve been given a second chance, and I truly believe that in Brody. She’s a special dog and we’re thrilled that she’s a part of our family. A big “thank you” goes out to all of the GPG staff, including Brody’s foster mom Janet Roberts, for their tireless efforts in helping forgotten dogs and cats find new homes. We are eternally grateful for your work!
