Adoptable Raanan at Trail Among the Trees at Rockwoods Reservation

Summer in St. Louis is hot, but there are plenty of fun activities you can do with your pet that will help you both cool off! One favorite activity of many Gateway Pet Guardians volunteers is hiking, especially on trails with water. Our fosters and volunteers provide their comprehensive list of their favorite ‘watering holes’ below:

Mastadon State Park, Imperial, MO
You can wade up the creek for at least a mile or two.
Rachel Broadbear

Castlewood State Park, Ballwin, MO
You can wade in the spring.
Brittany Fleming

Rockwoods Reservation, Wildwood, MO
We specifically recommend:

  • Trail Among the Trees (shallow creek crossing natural trail)
  • Lime Kiln Loop Trail (fresh spring pond on natural trail)
  • Green Rock Trail (wide shallow creek off natural trail with some deeper areas)
