She’s smart. She’s athletic. She’s lovable. She’s the whole package! She’s been with Gateway Pet Guardians for nine months, and it’s about time she found her forever home. Her name is Angie, and we’d like to share her story.
In January 2016, Angie was rescued from St. Clair County Animal Control and officially became a Gateway Pet Guardians rescue pup. She spent several months at the Emergency Shelter, where she met many friends and became an instant favorite. In fact, one volunteer loved her so much she couldn’t stop talking about her (we call her Human Angie!), and inspired a foster family to step up and bring her in. Enter Samantha Nutt and Gus Kempa, Angie’s dedicated and loving foster parents.
In May, Human Angie introduced Dog Angie to her (what would be future) foster parents. When they first met the adorable pup, Sam and Gus were a bit cautious, because she had so much energy and they were concerned about exercise. But the first time they saw her snuggle with their dog Sunny, they knew she would fit in!
Angie has worked through some obstacles with her foster parents when it comes to interacting with other dogs. Their biggest hurdle has been how excited she gets when she meets other pups. But with the help of a trainer and doggy daycare, Angie has improved so much! In the beginning they couldn’t walk her past a dog in a fenced yard, but now they are able to get her to divert her attention and enjoy walks and runs together.
When asked about her favorite thing about Angie, Sam says: “Her wiggly butt! She is just so stinking adorable when she gets excited and her whole body does a little wiggle. She also tries to sneakily climb into your lap on the couch. We usually don’t let the dogs up without being invited, but when she slowly puts one paw at a time up while looking at you guilty, it is hard to say no.”
This smart, athletic, beautiful pit bull mix has been waiting nine months. Although she loves her foster family dearly, she would love to find a forever home to call her own.
