Our Monday Shelter Dog this week is Pocahontas, also known as Holly. This blonde beauty is a Labrador Retriever/Terrier Mix. Holly is about a year and a half old. She is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on her shots.
Holly came to GPG around Thanksgiving, which is how she got her original name. There were two mama dogs living together on a compound in East Saint Louis. They both had their puppies around the same time and had sixteen puppies between the two of them. She was adopted by a family but was returned to GPG about a month ago. Holly is a sweet girl who wants to find a loving furever home!
This sweetie is super friendly and has a lot of love to give. She loves kisses and hugs! She can be a little shy when meeting new people and animals. However, she warms up quickly to them. She is great with kids! She gets along well with other dogs after proper introduction and even gets along with cats!
This girl has a lot of energy and loves to play! Holly loves to chase after stuffed toys. She also likes to play tug of war with her rope toys. Holly would fit in best in a home that is active. When Holly isn’t busy playing, she’s perfectly content with a lazy nap and snuggles. Miss Holly is also doing great with her house training and crate training.
If you are ready to give Pocahontas a home away from the shelter, you can learn about our adoption process and fill out an application here: Pet Adoption Policies & Application. You may also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. We are always looking for foster parents as well. Each time a shelter dog goes to a home, GPG can make room for another rescue dog. Please check out our foster page for more information here: Foster A Pet.
