Gateway Pet Guardians Operation:Give a Dog a Home community outreach event, dog house drive and distribution.
Operation: Give A Dog A Home was a success! On November 24, 2013 our volunteers were busy distributing dog houses and doing some community outreach. GPG distributed 40 dog houses (15 were the colorful, wooden ones from Purina – the rest were ASPCA approved outside dog houses) and 25 bales of straw! We ran out of houses two hours early but we’ve taken down names and are continuing to work on collecting donated dog houses and straw so we can help everyone in need.

We want to thank Karinna Lozano, who was the organizer of the event. She worked so hard to make sure this event was a success and plans to continue collecting dogs houses & straw for our next dog house drive. Her dream is to have a stock of houses all year round to help outdoor dogs & their families as soon as they need them.

We would like to send big thanks to Straws For Paws for the donation of 25 straw bales & to Sue Guinn, Stacey Kaemmerer’s aunt for donated straw and goodies. If you’re interested in donating straw, please contact Ellen at Straw for Paws, STL as she knows the best way to get them. We want to thank Matthew Wanersten for picking up 25 straw bales! He made four trips in his SUV to bring the straw from Chesterfield to our drop off site.

And we’re sending a huge thank you to Tom Becherer of Urban Feed and Supply Co. He not only stores all of our dog houses for our distribution days AND our food for the shelter & street dogs, he also picks up donations when we get them! He came out that day and worked very hard and we appreciate him so much!

Big thanks to all of our volunteers who helped: Karinna Lozano, Jennifer Upton, Brian McMurray, Stacey Kaemmerer, Jane Posen, Juliana Alexander, Allison Busby, Sara Cordevant, Sheila Ford, Sharon Sharp, Michelle Walpole, Vera Madkins and Erin McFly.

Many thanks to Purina, for donating 15 wonderful, painted dog houses!

And thank you very much to all of you who donated dog houses, straw, tie-outs and money for this project! We couldn’t have done it without all of you!
