This Titanic boat of love became GPG’s poster child for what a difference a little tender care can make. Titan, then known to us as Mr. Pit and known to people in East St. Louis as Whiteboy, had been on our feeding route for some time. His affinity for giving high fives made him that much more irresistible. But as time went by, Titan’s appearance began to deteriorate. He wasn’t neutered, and so he began getting in scrap after scrap with the other male dogs in the neighborhood. His face had been scratched. He looked like a war-weary soldier, tired and dirty.
One day we were able to catch up with a person who was acquainted with “Whiteboy’s” owner. He, too, had grown concerned about the dog’s health and the fact that his owner had neglected him. He gave us permission to take him into our custody and nurse him back to health.
This gentle giant high-fived his way right into the hearts of everyone he shook hands with. Titan was adopted and now lives in Texas with his new family.
If Titan’s story touched your heart, consider making a donation in his honor to the Gateway Pet Guardians Second Chance Fund to help save other strays just like him.
