Ruby's looking for a foster home or forever home!!

Monday’s Shelter Dog is Ruby! She’s a beautiful Labrador Retriever/Terrier Mix who is approximately 10 months old and has a way of tilting her head and looking at you that will make you melt!

Ruby was rescued in September from the Euthanasia List at Animal Control and was fostered by one of our Shelter Managers, Kimmy. Ruby settled in at her foster home, learning to get along nicely with the family’s two dogs and enjoying quality snuggle time with Kimmy & her husband.

A month later, they received some bad news. Unbeknownst to them, Ruby put them over their pet limit and their Homeowners Association told them that Ruby had to go. Heartbroken, they quickly tried to find a new home but couldn’t do it in the time frame given. So, Ruby went back to the Shelter.

Ruby loves giving kisses!!

Fast forward 4 months, Ruby is still at the shelter waiting for a foster home or forever home. It took her awhile to adjust to life at the shelter, it’s a good yet different environment than a home. She still saw Kimmy when she worked but this sweet pup probably didn’t understand why she wasn’t going home with her at night.

Ruby started going to training classes to learn good doggie manners & make new friends. She’s doing very well and the Shelter Staff have been working with her on introductions as she’s a little choosy with her canine friends. She gets along great with teens & adults but we don’t recommend her for homes with children or cats.

She’s house trained & crate trained, spayed, current on her shots, microchipped & on heartworm preventative and flea & tick protection.

Ruby is playful & energetic and a lot of fun to have around!!

This beautiful girl really loves being near her favorite people and she likes to follow them around, happy when she gets extra attention. Ruby enjoys giving the Shelter Staff kisses, likes cuddling on their laps or sitting up against them when they spend time with her. She’s sweet & lovable and has the most adorable wrinkles on her forehead that are perfect for kissing!

Ruby is a spunky girl who is very playful & energetic! She’s made some good friends at the shelter, and loves playing with them, especially her best friend Whitney. Their blossoming relationship was a wonderful surprise and we’re thrilled they’ve become best buddies! It’s so nice to watch them chase each other around, wrestle, play tug-of-war and have fun together!

Ruby is smart and knows how to sit, leave it & take it.  Her favorite treat is bacon so teaching her new commands and tricks should be fun for all involved. Watch this video clip as Kimmy works with Ruby on commands.

Walks are one of Ruby’s favorite activities and she walks nicely on a leash. She’d make a great running buddy and she loves it when some of the Shelter Staff visit her on their days off and take her running.

Ruby also enjoys going for car rides and is a good passenger.

This silly girl causes a lot of laughter at the Shelter with some of the things she does. She likes to carry her water bowl around for no reason at all, when she’s ready for a nap she digs & kicks her covers around for a while to make her sleeping quarters nice & cozy and when she sleeps she runs and twitches, which is just so funny & adorable!

Ruby would love to be fostered!!
