Recently, Christopher reached out about hosting a dog house building day at our shelter as part of his Eagle Scout Project with Boy Scout Troop 777.  Along with other Boy Scout and Eagle Scout troops, students from Vianney High School, volunteers from our organization and our good friends at Conner Roofing come together and built 30 dog houses in one day! Christopher led the project from start to finish along with help from his dad and grandpa. It was amazing to watch everyone work together to problem solve and build something from scratch. The majority of the houses have already been delivered out into the community to ensure that outdoor pets are warm and safe this winter.
Thank you to Mathew Hartig, President at Rubicon Corporation for graciously donating the lumber and supplies for half of the dog houses!
Thank you to Conner Roofing for donating all the roofing supplies and for your labor!
It is never lost on us, the power of community! We can build better, warmer dog houses for less than we can purchase plastic dog houses, so if you or your Boy Scout or other group is interested in hosting a dog house build at our shelter, please email us at info@gatewaypets.org.
